The challenge

Tacito Software runs a retail business, with custom software handling the core of it: products, stock and orders. Tacito wanted that software built around the way they actually work, and developers who’d keep building on it as the business grew and changed.

What we did

We’ve been Tacito’s developers for years, and the work has grown from one system into the next. It started with a bespoke retail management system for products, sales, inventory and orders, integrated with eBay and Australia Post so listings and shipping data move in and out automatically.

Most of the recent work has been marketplace integrations: a back-office layer that keeps stock, pricing and orders in sync across the marketplaces Tacito sells on. Supplier feeds come in on one side and marketplace orders on the other, with everything reconciled in one place. Live stock checks stop anything overselling, tracking numbers and notifications flow back out on their own, and the whole thing runs unattended on scheduled jobs. Adding another supplier or marketplace doesn’t mean reworking the core.

We also built a customer shopping app with React Native, sharing the same backend and able to run across more than one storefront.

The outcome

Day to day, Tacito runs on the systems we’ve built and still look after, most of it ticking along automatically in the background. It’s grown piece by piece into one connected setup rather than a pile of separate tools.
