Fieldfolio
A B2B wholesale marketplace where retail buyers order from wholesale sellers across Australia: catalogues, ordering, payments and shipping.
Client: Fieldfolio
Since: 2015
Our role: Lead developer, product engineering
The challenge
Fieldfolio started as an iPad app for sales reps taking orders in the field, and expanded into Fieldfolio Marketplace, where sellers publish their catalogues online and retail buyers can find them, request access and order directly. Underneath it all, the core job is the same: getting catalogues published out to reps and online, taking wholesale orders against them, and handling the payments, shipping and customer APIs that come with real orders.
What we did
We’ve worked on Fieldfolio for years, across most of the platform. We built Fieldfolio Payments, which handles checkout and payment for orders and works out shipping for Australia and New Zealand, and Fieldfolio Promotions, which lets sellers buy promotional placement across the site and in the weekly retailer newsletter.
Around those there’s the ongoing work on the catalogue, ordering and customer APIs, a steady run of smaller features and improvements, and keeping the stack current, with newer work built in GraphQL and TypeScript.
The outcome
Fieldfolio runs as a wholesale marketplace today, with sellers and buyers transacting through it. A lot of the engineering goes into keeping it that way: new features slot in without disturbing what’s already running, and the platform holds up as more buyers and sellers come onto it.
